Highlander, released in 1986 quickly became a cult movie and launched the phrase “There can be only one.” In 1991, the filmmakers forgot that mantra and made Highlander II: The Quickening. Widely considered the worst sequel of all time, Highlander II retcons most of the first movie and replaces it with hot garbage. Though it was re-edited years later into the less offensive “Renegade Cut,” we will be discussing and viewing the original theatrical version known as The Quickening.
Comedian Dale Maxfield and his team of riffers present What Happened?! – live film riffs with comedic commentary and behind-the-scenes info. We’ll look at the series of decisions that led to this disastrous movie, followed by a full riff of the movie by Dale’s team, Cinemasochists! If you like Mystery Science Theater or the Benson Interruption, you’ll love this!
